Hinge calculator
Enter your door size and material to see how many concealed hinges it needs, where to place them and which hinge suits the door thickness.
How we work it out
We estimate the door weight from its size and material, then check both weight and height. The higher of the two sets the number of hinges.
- Up to 7.7 kg or 1000 mm high: 2 hinges
- Up to 13.7 kg or 1700 mm high: 3 hinges
- Up to 17.1 kg or 2200 mm high: 4 hinges
- Up to 22 kg or 2400 mm high: 5 hinges
- Doors up to 2800 mm high: 6 or 7 hinges
These figures follow Hettich's guidance for Sensys hinges.
Before you drill
- Doors wider than 600 mm, or wider than they are tall, put extra load on concealed hinges. Split wide doors into two.
- Move a hinge if it lines up with a shelf or a drawer runner.
- Glass doors and heavy timber doors may need a different hinge. Talk to the team if you're not sure.
- Always check the installation sheet for the hinge you choose.
